Are Group Hypnosis Sessions Effective?

Short answer: Yes, they definitely can be, but certainly not always.  Also, I would say it depends on what the group session is attempting to achieve.

Long answer:  When trying to make a measureable change, it can be very valuable to get to the root cause of the start of the habits, behaviours, thought patterns or belief systems, in order to reframe them.  The problem with group sessions can be that every person has a very different individual story that led them to their current state, and so it can become almost impossible to address every person's root issues in the room, during just one session.
However, hypnosis does change habits without having to address thoughts and beliefs, so there are of course many circumstances where group sessions can be useful for some people.

An individual session, though, is likely to be much more effective because it is tailored and personalized to the individual client and their own circumstances.

I was hypnotised before and it didn't work.  Does that mean I can't be hypnotised?

A typical reason hypnosis hasn't worked before could be to do with a lack of rapport between the client and the practitioner.  In order to avoid this in the future, it is recommended to take advantage of the free consultations that most hypnotists offer.  This way, you can decide for yourself if you feel a rapport with the therapist.

Other reasons are plentiful:  it could be as simple as you were distracted by the temperature in the room, or were hungry or thirsty, or weren't feeling well that day, or you were nervous about being hypnotised etc.  Such seemingly small things can make all the difference to the success of a session.  With any luck, your therapist will be one who addresses anything that might stand in the way of a successful session, who will put you at ease, and will do their utmost to ensure a favourable outcome.

However, it is true to say that not everyone can be hypnotised, but it is always worth giving it a go.  The benefits can be enormous and very worthwhile.

What other things should I know about hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a very broad topic and it would take writing a very large book, or three, to share all there is to know about it.   I am always learning more and will continue to learn more throughout the duration of my career and life.  However,  should you have any questions that I haven't addressed, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be honoured to help.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies. I usually encourage clients to plan for three sessions.  That can be enough time for the issue to be resolved, but also enough time to see if any further tweaks are needed.  We work together on this decision.  The path of hypnotherapy is different for everyone, so do allow for some flexibility.

How much does it cost?
